This is more of a personal post.
I wanted to share that my first dog and best friend, Maggie, had been battling cancer for the better part of 10 months. I adopted her August 15, 2015 as a rescue recovered from the roadside in North Carolina. She had already had a litter of puppies whose location and fate remain unknown.
She was about one and half years old at the time, and upon bringing her home she left the family speechless when we sat for dinner and Maggie just sat quietly 10 feet away, with no intervention. This impressive discipline and obedience grew and followed her throughout her life journey. A dependable friend who always had more love to give.
Sadly, this past Thursday, December 12, 2024 the cancer had finally won the battle and the decision to euthanize was made. It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, and after having gone through it now, has been the most painful 2 days of my existence now that she's gone.
A piece of me died with her, and it's taking a toll on my mental health currently. I don't know when I'll have the motivation to continue with additions or fixes to Blazam. I know the time will come, but I have no idea how long this grief will take.
The best I can do, and to honor the life of the dog that kept me going at 110%, I am formally announcing that Blazam, my greatest creation, has been dedicated to Maggie and her spirit. I've added an about popup to v1.2.2 that replaces the version tooltip. There, a memorial to her life will be viewed by people all around the world.
Thank you Maggie.
