I use the Lux automatic brightness adjuster app, which uses an ongoing notification to prevent Android from killing it. However, I dislike persistent notification icons in my status bar. IMO, icons should depict something that needs your notification, not an ongoing service. However, I like that I can swipe the notification drawer down and have access to the Lux widget in the notification bar.
As is, notification blocking will block the notification entirely. I propose a second option to only block the icon, as this seems like a very useful feature.
