I was experiencing the same issue as in #118 when I re-installed dependencies on an older project recently. When I attempted to pull down bloomer and compile, it wouldn't build at all and I experienced a bunch of typescript errors. After a bit of troubleshooting, it looks like typescript was out of date and causing problems for us.
I upgraded typescript to 2.9.2, fixed broken types, then got the rest of the dependencies at least up-to-date with their major versions.
