Before taking the career change plunge into software engineering, I was a life-long cook and baker. Most recently I founded and operated an award winning bakery in the Bay Area for 5½ years. During that experience I came to realize I wanted something else out of life, and that's when I decided to pursue a career in software engineering.
Years of intense focus and effort in kitchens taught me to learn quickly, adapt to ever-changing variables, and to work well with my team while maintaining a positive work environment. I have a strong, determined work ethic instilled by my parents, and every day I am inspired to do great work by my wife and daughter.
I am always looking for ways to improve my skills and knowledge. My preferred method is building projects, check out some of mine below!
I have a passion for finding the most efficient, effective solutions to problems and I have a deep-seated need to fix bad UI/UX!
When I'm not working, you can find me cooking in the kitchen, enjoying quality time with my family and friends, listening to/playing music (currently learning upright bass), trail running, or kayaking around the SF Bay!

Advanture Repo Live |
My capstone project at App Academy, Advanture is a clone of Turo. I wanted to push myself to learn more about DOM manipulation and the Google Maps API. I built the backend with Python, Flask, and SQLAlchemy, the frontend with React and Redux and used AWS S3 to store images. I plan to continue working on this project to add more features! | Vans, Ratings/Reviews, Favorites, Google Maps API, Filters |

LaunchPad Repo Live |
My second fullstack and first group project. I worked with a team of 3 to build this clone of Kickstarter. We built this project in a week, with 4 full CRUD features. Since then I've added a search and pagination feature. It was an excellent experience learning how to operate as a team! | Projects, Rewards, Comments, Backings, Search, Pagination |

Get Together Repo Live |
My first full stack project. Get Together is a clone of Meetup, allowing users to create groups and events. I built the backend with Express and Sequelize, the frontend with React and Redux and used AWS S3 to store images. It was my first introduction to building a web app with full CRUD capabilities. I learned a lot, and I'm proud of the result. I plan to continue working on this project to add more features and improve the design. | Groups, Events |
